Today was the first day of the second run of Autumn's Harvest by Dominique Morisseau for Lincoln Center Education! Last time I was with this wonderful cast turned family, it was the hot summer and now it is still the coldest winter. I was also a new member of equity then, and although the joy has not yet worn off, it's great coming into a room with familiar faces to work on a play that still means so much to us. Although many things are the same, we do have a few changes: Ruffin Prentiss has taken over for David Pegram (busy working at Radio City) as the male / musician understudy and Reg Douglas has stepped in to guide us back onto our feet while our original director Jade King Carroll is working on "The Whipping Man" at Portland Stage Company in Maine. She'll be directing us remotely via the great invention of Skype and we can't wait to see her in person once we get to tech week! The funniest part of all of this wonderful news?....this isn't the only show I'm doing! Go read Double Duty: Part 2 to see what other theatrical parts I'll be juggling.
Tonight, at 10:30 PM, the episode I shot of Broad City this summer aired on Comedy Central. You can watch the full episode online by entering your cable provider info, or for free by downloading the app on your phone. But for now...here's a clip of Jake Choi, me and the others "interns" in a scene with the Bo$$ lady herself. Enjoy!
I got the amazing opportunity to participate in Fresh Ground Pepper's 2014 Playground Festival at South Oxford Space in a reading of "Mourning Sun" by Antu Yacob, directed by David Mendizábal.
"The FGP PlayGround PlayGroup is a long-term writers' group for artists working on projects in their earliest stages of development. PlayGround PlayGroup operates just like the rest of FGP - it is a place where writers can be bold and unabashed in their creation of work and their support of one another. The PlayGround Festival marks the culmination of a year of work on these projects."

What a great way to start the month of December! I can't wait to see the rest of my headshots by J. Demetrie Photography. They were so joyous, relaxed and extremely professional...And who could go wrong with a nice cool glass of wine. Here is a behind the scenes shot and a sneak peek at one of their favorite photos shot and edited by Jovani Demetrie McCleary with eco-friendly makeup and styling by Anastasia Lange.
Check them out (and the gushing review I wrote about my great experience) on Facebook here:

Although this commercial will only be available online to those thinking about participating in Planned Parenthood's new study in collaboration with the New York University Silver School of Social Work, it was a really great and easy shoot. It was also my first time working with a teleprompter but my second awesome booking with big thanks going out to McCorkle Casting Ltd.! This was a great opportunity to work on a commercial but more importantly, it was also for a great cause. Young women can get answers to their health questions, and help other women by joining the Sexual Evaluation Study (SHE) today. If you're interested in learning more, visit Planned Parenthood and check out their Teens section.
I've known of Herve 'H' Diese since I was 16 years old! We met while I was on a trip to visit my family in South Africa and seven years later, he has his own radio show and I have an awesome opportunity to answer some questions from his dope team Bobby Bittles (@Bittlemethis) & CC (@CCduzit). Follow Catch My Drift Radio on Facebook and Twitter (@CatchmydriftR) and take a listen to the unedited interview here. I hope I get to go back to CMD Radio soon!
It has already been an amazing summer and add to the list a star filled day on the set of season two of Comedy Central's Broad City. The episode, directed by Michael Blieden, will air in January, but for now enjoy this awesome photo of Nicole Drespel, Abbi Jacobson, me, Liz Simons and Jake Choi after we wrapped! The name of the episode is "Mochalatta Chills" and I play Aisha one of Ilana's interns at the made-up Deals, Deals, Deals (the Groupon of Broad City), so get ready for some new laughs and yours truly.
Starting in June 2014, Mirirai played Autumn in Autumn's Harvest by Dominique Morisseau. It was a part of Lincoln Center Education's Teacher's Summer Forum and the play was directed by Jade King Carroll. This production gave Mirirai her union card. She is now a proud member of the Actors' Equity Association (AEA). Part two of Autumn's Harvest tours throughout NYC Public schools starting in March of 2015.
